On behalf of the Bowie-Mitchellville (MD) Diamond Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors, we would like to thank you for visiting our foundation website. The Bowie-Mitchellville (MD) Diamond Foundation, Inc. is the philanthropic arm of the Bowie-Mitchellville (MD) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.

The Foundation was Established in 2006 as a non-profit, tax exempt, 501 (c) (3) organization located in Prince George’s County Maryland. The overarching purpose of the BMDF is to support the community through various fundraising efforts, grants, and service initiatives. These major efforts will directly support scholarships advancing the education and career training of our local communities with special focus on our under represented, disadvantaged African American youth.

Mission:

  • Encourage the development and leadership training among young males in Prince George’s County.
  • Assist in advancement of young men who are disadvantaged.
  • Promote the benefits of receiving a college education by offering scholarships or other educational benefits.
  • Work with young males at the Elementary and Secondary school level undefined who are in single parent households.
  • Serve as role models to young men and provide financial assistance by providing them with leadership training to help provide an opportunity to grow.
  • Provide support to the Bowie/Mitchellville (MD)Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Guide Right and Kappa League programs.

Scholarship:

The BMDF continues tradition, maintaining a scholarship fund for graduating Prince Georges County resident seniors, enrolling in vocational ,two-year, and four-year colleges and universities.
The scholarship funds are to be used for tuition, books, and room/board. Over the past 8 years the Foundation has awarded over 50 students with $500.00 - $1,000 scholarships.
GOAL: Increase our direct support for well deserving in coming college freshman and graduating seniors embarking on their vocational journeys.

INITIAL ELIGIILITY:
  • Good academic standing—with at least a 2.5 GPA during their senior year.
  • Demonstrate both financial need and academic merit.
  • Exhibit leadership ability and community engagement.
  • Dedicated interest and motivation to succeed in higher education.

Vision:

  • To work with young African American males at the Elementary and Secondary school level and to identify with those males who do not have a father in the household.
  • To serve as role models to young African American males and provide financial assistance by sending them to camp or leadership training and to help provide an opportunity to grow.
  • To specifically concentrate on those African American males who come from single family households.

On Sunday, June 11th, The Diamond Foundation and Kappa League Committee of The Bowie-Mitchellville Alumni (MD) Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. hosted a phenomenal Kappa League Senior Scholarship Brunch and Award Ceremony.
The BMAC Diamond Foundation honored our deserving Kappa League Seniors in presenting them with over $10,000.00 in scholarship funds. The following BMAC Kappa League Seniors received congratulatory book scholarships while announcing their college of choice:

4. David Labor (Hampton University)

This event also showcased the many gifts and talents of our BMAC Kappa Leaguers as well as commemorated another successful year for the BMAC Kappa League/Guide Right programs as our Kappa Leaguers were presented with many superlative awards and certificates of achievement.
